Soumye Singhal of XII participated in the National Science
(Vijyoshi) Camp organised by KVPY in collaboration with
INSPIRE Program held from 10th to 12th November 2014 at
the Science City Auditorium, Kolkata. It is funded by the
Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The
aim of the annual National Science (Vijyoshi) Camps is to
provide a forum for interactions between bright young
students and leading researchers in various branches of
Science and Mathematics.
Ms. Amandeep Kaur participated in the Global Teachers
Accreditation Program and her presentation was selected for
the GTA Award. The Global Teacher Accreditation Project,
conducted by the British Council and the Cambridge
Foundation, aims to provide high quality professional
training, accredit classroom based action research, enable
teachers to reflect on their everyday practices in order to
improve students’ learning and provide opportunities for
teachers to share their professional learning with other
teachers locally and globally.
The topic chosen for action research was ‘An impact analysis
of hands on learning experiences’. The award was presented
on 2nd – 3rd Dec, 2014 at Kempinski Ambience Hotel.

Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan
To involve the parent body of the school in the Swachh
Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, a signature
campaign was organised on 18th October, 2014, wherein
the students put up boards for parents to sign and give
their valuable suggestions. A skit to promote the
Cleanliness Drive was also presented during a special
assembly conducted on 20th October 2014. The students
whole heartedly participated in the online competitions
organised by the CBSE from 15th to 19th November. As
a result of this initiative, the students and teachers have
developed an awareness towards keeping one’s
surroundings clean. The school is planning to organize
various other events to ensure ‘Zero Tolerance Zone’ in
maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.

21 Art works of our students have been put up at the
Mangolpuri Police Station to make the police station
bright and colourful and creating a friendly ambience.

Prachi Maheshwari and Aastha Gupta were selected for
the final round of the Annual Swami Vivekananda Quiz
Competition – 2014 held on 10th December 2014 at the
Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi.
They were selected from among 652 students (385 Juniors
and 267 Seniors) who had participated in the second round
of the competition held at the Ashram premises on 15th
October 2014. About 85,000 students from 160 schools took
part in the first round of the competition.

Main belt Asteroid
Akshat and Kshitij Jindal of class XI were
awarded with a trophy and certificate for the
provisional discovery of an Asteroid made by
them. They participated in the All India
Asteroid Search Campaign Phase III.
They were also felicitated by the Hon'ble
minister of Science and Technology, Dr.
Jitendra Singh for their discovery of the
Asteroid .

selected out of 12 district schools in
Delhi to participate in the State Level
Solo Singing (Light Vocal) Cultural
Competition organised by the Govt. of
NCT of Delhi on 26th November, 2014.
He secured the first position in the
junior boys category.
I-genius
Shivam Ahuja of class 7 won the first prize in the junior
category in the ‘i-genius Young Singing Stars’ competition
organised by Max Life Insurance. The programme was
launched as a nationwide search for young singing talent to
provide children aged between 8-15 years an exciting
platform to be heard by industry professionals. Salim
Merchant and Shraddha Sharma were the brand
ambassadors and jury for this programme.
Shivam has also won a contract with Universal Music
Group to record his own music album.

D.P.S. Mathura Road organized Namaste
Deutschland on 22nd November 2014. The
students of classes 8, 9 and 10 enthusiastically
participated in the fest and took part in various
workshops.
The toppers of Fit in Deutsch1 and Fit in Deutsch
2 examinations conducted by Max Mueller
Bhavan were felicitated by Michael Steiner,
Ambassador of Germany. A memento was given
to the school by the German Ambassador for
active participation in this international
examination.

National Level Abacus and Vedic Maths Championship 2014
90 students of our school enrolled in the first level of the National
Level Abacus and Vedic Maths Championship 2014, out of which
75 students cleared the first level. 20 students reached the second
level of the competition. PRANIKA GOEL of class VIII became
a NATIONAL CHAMP’2014 in V2 level of ABACUS/VEDIC

A class presentation was organised on 29th
November 2014 for all students of classes IX and
X. Class IX presented a One-Act Play on social
issues and Class X presented theme based group
songs. The entire presentation was conceived,
developed and presented by the students.
This activity was aimed at getting the students to
explore their creative potential , develop social
skills and team values. It instilled in the students
collaborative spirit and healthy competition.

Indoor Stadium on 23rd November 2014.
The DFC School Challenge 2014 award function was held on 22nd
November 2014 at Ahmedabad. Our school team was nominated
for 'The Most Easy To Replicate' award and the ‘Best Three
Deserving Stories’. The team was selected in the top 20 best
school teams all over India and was awarded a Disney Play
Centre.

FALL FEST
ANNUAL FETE
The Annual School Fete was held on 25th
December 2014. The events included
Talent Hunt, Baby Show, Talented
Grandparents Contest, and many more.
An ambience of fun and frolic was created
by over 150 games and food stalls put up
by the students and teachers and by the
flash mob dancers. The carnival proved to
be a perfect way of celebrating Christmas
and putting a euphoric end to the passing
year.

A group of students with special needs put up a game
stall in the school fete and showcased their talent by
performing science experiments like ‘volcano eruption ,
‘pick up a coin from water without touching water’.
Aditya Sharma, Vaibhav P. Singh , Joyjeet Deb and
Siya Girdhar were active participants in the stall. The
exposure the students received helped them in social
awareness and managing people and money. They were
also able to interact with a large number of people
giving their confidence a boost. It was a learning
experience for all concerned - students, teachers as well
as parents.

Ms. Anupriya Deotale is acknowledged as
one of the most outstanding classical North
Indian Violin artists of today. It was an
honor to have her perform in the school on
17th December, 2014, under the aegis of
SPIC MACAY. The students of class XI
who heard her play and attended the

absorbed in the performance.

periods. Students were very excited to meet their favourite
character, Geronimo from the famous series Geronimo Stilton.

A visit to the Parliament House was
organized for 15 students of class V on
December 17, 2014. The students got a
chance to witness the parliament in
session. The students also visited the
Heritage Parliament Museum. This gave
them an insight through its displays and

Two teachers Ms. Lesley Corke and Ms. Jill Ferguson from
Pevensey and Westham School, UK visited our school from
10th to 18th October 2014 as a part of the Global School
Partnership, Connecting Classrooms Teachers Exchange
Programme sponsored by the British Council. They
observed the different teaching strategies being used in the
Montessori and the Primary Department. They were also a
part of the Diwali celebration in the Montessori
Department. They visited the classes in the Primary Dept.

appreciated the efforts of all the students whole heartedly

A group of Class XI students visited ‘Earth
Saviors’- an NGO working for the
rehabilitation of the poor and the destitute. The
students collected woollen clothes, sheets,
biscuits and other eatables for the people living
there.
The students interacted with the inmates and
were overwhelmed to know about their sorrows
and miseries on being left alone and homeless in
the world. The aim of the visit was to sensitize
the students.

group of 10 students attended a three day camp

street play on female foeticide. Their
performance was specially lauded by the
District Governor, Mr. Sanjay Khanna, who

The students of class 12 were taken for an
excursion to Purana Quila, Raj Ghat and Gandhi
Darshan on 1st November, 2014. They explored
this oldest fort of Delhi which is located at the
legendary site of Indraprastha. They also visited
Qila-i-Kuhna mosque, and observed the
calligraphic writings on the walls.
At Gandhi Darshan, they saw various
photographs, sculptures, paintings, frescoes,
inscriptions and relics depicting the life of
Mahatma Gandhi.

activity for the students of classes 6th to 10th as a part of
CBSE Project Assessment. The students were shown
Power Point Presentations in all the classes and the
subsequent activities were based on the same.

The Primary Department has introduced the Buddy programme.
The mission of the Buddy Programme is to enhance the
motivation and self esteem of children who need constant
support and guidance in doing their daily lessons. Such children
are attached to dependable volunteers who are called their
‘Buddies’. The buddy badge was presented to the volunteers on
27th November 2014 along with their code of conduct and they
promised to help their buddies at all times.
A community lunch was organized for the
students of class III to V on the occasion of
Children’s Day in a neighbourhood park.
The community lunch presented the
students with a wonderful opportunity to
interact with each other in an informal
setting. They learnt the important values of
civic-sense and cleanliness. They left the
park clean after the lunch was over .

They came dressed in Gujrati

A Pyjama Party was organized in the
