Subscribing to RSS Feeds using Thunderbird
Open up Thunderbird and click File then New then Account...
Select RSS News & Blogs and click Next.
Enter a name for the account,
e.g. RSS Feeds, and click
Next.
At the next screen, confirm
the account name is correct
and click Finish.
The new account will be displayed in your folder listing on the left
hand side.
To subscribe to a feed, right click on the name of the account
(here RSS Feeds) and click Manage Subscriptions…
At the next screen, click Add and enter the address of the feed then click OK.
E.g. to subscribe to the BBC News front page enter:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml
Repeat the process to add more feeds. When you have finished, click the

You can see your feed listed in the folder list.
To view the list of articles simply click on the name of the feed.
To view an individual article, click on the article name. The article will be displayed in the
pane below.
By default Thunderbird will only check for new articles every 100 minutes. To change this
setting and to check for new articles when the program is started, click Tools then Account
Settings…. Modify the settings and click OK.
