Luis Jorge Romero is the Director of Devices and Customer Networks in Telefónica

España, leading the introduction of new devices and CPE in Telefónica España’s network, both fixed and mobile, including certification and life cycle management.

Previously Director of Innovation and Standards, he was in charge of medium and long term technological projects - innovation, as well as standards.

In an earlier time, Director of the Coordination Division in Telefónica Móviles España, he coordinated the introduction of value added products and services, including processes, budget and resources management and coordinating Telefónica Móviles

España participation in SDO’s.

In his professional career, he has been engaged in several projects for Telefónica

Móviles, including the start up of Telefónica Romania in 1993 and of Telefónica

Móviles México in 2001 (including the merger with Pegaso Comunicaciones). He is also part of the core team who started GSM services in Spain and responsible of setting up roaming for Telefónica Móviles.

From 1999 to 2001 he contributed to the start up of Médi Télécom (Moroccan GSM operator) in which he held the post of General Director for IT Systems, Services and

Operations, reporting to the CEO.

He currently holds a Director seat in the Boards of mTLD, Ltd. (mobile Top Level

Domain, Ltd.) and NGMN (New Generation Mobile Networks) on behalf of Telefónica

España, chairing the GSMA’s SRG (Services Review Group) and the Spanish

Technological Platform on Wireless Communications, eMOV.
