Weather Working Team Charter
Mission:
To provide a forum for coordinated interagency discussion, review, and recommendation
formulation of fire weather, and related issues confronting the Pacific Northwest wildfire
protection agencies thereby enhancing the ability of each agency to meet its fire protection mission.
Objectives:
1.
Be an advocate for the adoption of state-of-the-art technology and techniques
for weather services.
2.
Pro-actively identify issues and recommend solutions to current problems.
3.
Work on assigned tasks from PNWCG by:

Analyzing issues and tasks
Developing alternative solutions to problems
Providing recommendations
Reporting on activities to PNWCG
Provide an organized method of developing management information about
National Weather Service programs for PNWCG.
Membership:
The Weather Working Team will be composed of one representative from each of the following
agencies:
USDA-Forest Service
USDI-National Park Service
USDI-Bureau of Land Management
Washington Department of Natural Resources
USDI-Bureau of Indian Affairs
USDI-Fish and Wildlife Service
Oregon Department of Forestry
A non-voting technical advisor from the National Weather Service will be invited to participate in
Team discussions. This advisor should, if at all possible, represent the Fire Weather Forecasting
program.
Officers:
The Weather Working Team will elect a Chairperson by December of even-numbered years. The
Chairperson will serve for two years.
Duties of the Chairperson:
1.
Responsible for administrative action to ensure mission attainment.
2.
Assign task groups and working team liaisons, as needed.
3.
Establish meeting time, place, and agenda.
4.
Acts as the clearing house for Working Team business and reports.
5.
Records notes, edits notes, and distributes notes.
6.
Report to PNWCG on the work and recommendations of the Team.
Duties of the Members:
1.
Accomplish work assigned.
2.
Attend all meetings or ensure the member’s agency is represented.
3.
Review all material submitted to the Working Team.
4.
Ensure that agency personnel are briefed on the Working Team activities and
business.
5.
Members are responsible for representing their agency interests in matters
brought before the Working Team.
6.
Members must ensure that their agency policy and procedures are maintained.
7.
Develop Working Team budget requests for PNWCG approval.
Meetings:
Regular Working Team meetings will be held at the pleasure of the Working Team. Quarterly
meetings are desirable but not required.
Four members shall constitute a quorum for voting purposes.
Task Groups:
Task Groups may be established as special needs arise. Task Groups, which require assignment of
significant agency resources over and above the Working Team resources, will be approved by
PNWCG before they are established.
