Separate Structures. Is a main breaker required at the panel located inside of a building when it is fed from an outside service panel mounted on a brick wall that is adjacent too but not attached to the building?

Yes. NEC Art. 225 covers requirements for outside branch circuits and feeders run on or between buildings, structures, or poles on the premises.

Art. 225.32 states that a disconnecting means shall be installed either inside or outside of the building or structure served.

Is it permissible to install a receptacle inside of a bathroom cabinet?

A receptacle will only be accepted in a bathroom cabinet if it is in addition to the required receptacle. NEC Art. 210.52 (D) requires at least one receptacle be installed within three foot of the outside edge of each basin.

The receptacle shall be located on a wall or partition that is adjacent to the basin or basin countertop.

When wiring a residence for a free standing gas and electric range and the owner elects to use the gas range outlet, is it permissible to terminate 240v conductors in a junction box and leave them terminated on the breaker or do you need to install the range receptacle?

If you land the wire on a breaker, the range receptacle must be installed.

This would also apply to a gas and electric dryer. The only time the 240v wiring will be permitted to be terminated in a jbox is if you leave the wire off the breaker in the panel.

Do you have to change a range cable from 3 wire to 4 wire when you replace the oven and range? .

If you do not have to relocate or extend the circuit and you are replacing the range/oven, you can leave the three (3) wire cable as is. If the kitchen is being remodeled it must be changed to a four (4) wire cable and outlet.

Are we requiring the overhead light on a porch to be installed if

there is a coach light installed at the door?

Must light be installed over a garage door or beside the garage door on a final?

If these fixtures are not the required fixture it is permissible to blank the fixture off.

What is the allowable fuse on a #2 cu run to an A/C unit? Would

100a amp be allowed?

No. Cannot use 310.15(B) (6) to figure the wire size to an A/C unit. 90a would be the allowable fuse.

Which grounding table is used to figure the ground on the secondary side of a transformer?

NEC Art. 250.30 (A) (3). A grounding electrode conductor for a single separately derived system shall be sized in accordance with 250.66 for the derived phase conductors.

Which grounding table is used to figure bonding of multiple services disconnecting means?

NEC 250.102(C) requires that the bonding jumpers on the line side of each service and the main bonding jumper be sized from Table 250.66.

Equipotential bonding on hot tubs.

Hot Tubs must be bonded per Art 680 of the NEC. However, we will allow a wood deck to be built around the hot tub. It must be a minimum of three feet wide and surround the entire tub.

Is a light fixture required to be installed in an interior/exterior

space of a single family dwelling that does not contain shelving?

The code requires a fixture be installed in storage areas. If the area has a full size door with a ceiling height of six foot and a depth of six foot, a fixture will be required in this area.

What are the requirements for cord and plug dishwashers?

Cord and plug wiring method will be accepted if it meets the requirements of Art. 422.16 (B) (2). Cord must be approved appliance cord and it must be installed per manufactures instructions.

Who is supposed to turn down location of smoke detectors?

Smoke detectors fall under the building code. It is responsibility of the building inspector to check the location of a smoke detector. However we will take this issue up with the building department for further investigation.

What is the minimum size feeder/disconnect to a detached garage?

Per Art. 225.39 (D) the feeder or branch circuit disconnecting means shall have a rating of not less than 60 amperes.

Is a main breaker required at the detached garage?

Yes. 225.31 states that a means shall be provided for disconnecting all ungrounded conductors that supply or pass through the building or structure. 225.36 requires the disconnect be suitable for use as service equipment. There is an exception for residential garages that allows a snap switch or set of 3-way or 4-way snap switches as the disconnecting means.

Is the inspection department accepting the wall mounted thermostat with GFCI protection on a floor heat system.

Yes.
