There are currently four Tracks available in the Major. Here is the intent of each:
! General Track: This includes all the subject matter content needed to pass the CBEST and the CSET exam, and to enter the Multiple Subject (K-8) teaching
credential program.
! Integrated Track: This includes everything in the General Track, plus the Multiple Subject (K-8) credential program as part of the BA degree. All courses in this
Track must be completed with a grade of <C-’ or better, except Freshman Composition and Mathematics, which each require a <C’ or better.
! Spanish Studies Track: This is similar to the General Track, but it requires a higher level of competency in Spanish and a concentration focusing on Latino
language and culture.
! Arts and Letters Track (Non-credential): This is an interdisciplinary major intended for those who do NOT intend to become teachers. Students choose from one
of five concentrations and must also complete a Minor field of study (see the link below for the list of concentrations and approved courses in each). Students have more
flexibility with regard to choices in General Education and do not follow the pattern above, but are advised to complete the lower-division IGETC or the CSU General
Education breadth requirements.
For additional details of the content, uses, and requirements of the four Tracks, visit http://liberalstudies.csusb.edu.
This sheet lists required courses for the General Track. For transfer courses required for the other three Tracks, visit http://www.assist.org.
