Dear Parent or Guardian,
As our 8th grade students prepare to finish up their year here at Marlowe Middle School, I wanted to include some detailed
information concerning two of the major events that will be taking place this upcoming spring.
8th Grade Dance – Friday, May 13th, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Marlowe Middle School
The 8th grade dance, which is one of the most anticipated events of the year, will be held on Friday, May 13th from 7:00 p.m. to
9:30 p.m. The night is meant to be a special time to celebrate friendships and marks one of the last times this group will be together
as a class. While it is a special occasion, it is not meant to be a formal, prom-like dance nor is it intended to be a financial burden for
parents. Nice attire is expected, but neither suits nor formal dresses are required. The attire for boys include: dress slacks or khakis
with a collared shirt/tie. For girls, spring-like dresses or dress slacks and dress blouses. No one will be admitted to the dance with
bare midriffs, or low cut dresses in the front or back. In addition, dates are not required, but rather discouraged in order to
promote a group friendship-type atmosphere. Only Marlowe Middle School 8 th grade students are permitted to attend. Limousines,
tuxedos, and other such extravagances are strongly discouraged. The evening is meant to be a simple, but elegant affair to celebrate
your son or daughter’s achievement in middle school. All students must be in school all day in order to attend the dance.
Please continue to send monetary donations to main office to assist the PTA with the decorations/preparations for the dance. If you
have any questions about the planning for the dance, please contact Gwen Fehrman. Gfish73@comcast.net
8th Grade Promotion – Thursday, June 2nd, 7:00 p.m., Huntley High School
Promotion tickets will be distributed to students on Tuesday, May 31 st. Each student will receive an envelope with 4 tickets. They
will sign for these tickets indicating that they have received them. Unfortunately, due to the size of our 8 th grade class (500+ students)
and the space available to us at the high school, we are unable to give more than 4 tickets to any student. Promotion tickets will be
collected at the door upon entering the event. The students should arrive at Huntley High School no later than 6:30 p.m.
