The Saturn TWT has 5 segments to work on for the next submission
in February 02. - orbits 11 & 12, both inbound & outbound, and 15
at periapse. We have already worked most of the big issues on 11 &
12, but 15 is untouched.
John Pearl warned that CIRS was developing a dust-impact flight
rule. People should not assume that all such problems went away
when INCA's door moved.
Rev 11 inbound - UVIS Impact was trimmed by 2 hours, the RSS
calibration was advanced, and 2 more ISS pickets added in the gap
thus created. Secondary axis pointing is needed for UVIS Impacts
(from Jeff Cuzzi).
Rev 11 outbound - VIMS lightning, CIRS 2-rotation map looking for
waves (1 hemisphere only), & VIMS search for methane fluorescence.
CDA said the would like to control the secondary axis for 2 hrs
after 196T18:27 & for as long as possible following 197T19:35. The
first is during a downlink, & for the second he should negotiate
with Amy S/CIRS. Note that the CIRS map with parallel slits should
give UVIS ridealong polar limb profiles - 6 mrad off limb at 25
microrad/sec (3,500 km, 15 km/sec)
Rev 12 inbound - UVIS Impact, CIRS far-IR map, ISS pickets and
VIMS mosaic, and UVIS EUVFUV. Kevin B wondered why Bob W was doing
1/2 rotn each with ISS & UVIS, instead of 1 rotation with one or
the other.
Rev 12 outbound - UVIS EUVFUV, 3 ISS mutual events, & 5 ISS
pickets. Too much data for a 34m DSN dish, but Kevin wants to not
request a 70m - we already have on the other 3 segmants. Maybe
UVIS EUVFUV could be traded with CIRS 2-rotation map on Rev 11.
Rev 15 - crowded. VIMS map of Saturn, an OTM, RSS radiometry of
Saturn, CIRS limb map, VIMS lightning, CIRS composition, CIRS
calibration. Amanda H pointed out SOST interest in flyby of
Calypso (4 hrs) in the middle of RSS's 9 hours. Since the STWT had
promised this (close) periapse to RSS, Kevin suggested looking for
a suitable substitute later in the tour.
11 & 12 inbounds are now done.
