ANSI Interest in Fora/Consortia



ANSI National Policy Committee Task Group on
Fora/Consortia
U.S. Standards Strategy (www.us-standards-strategy.org)
provides:
 “The system is diverse and inclusive and supports flexible
standards solutions. Consortia and forums are illustrative of
that flexibility and are an integral part of the global standards
system”.

ANSI Interest in Fora/Consortia


As can be seen on the next Slide from a GSC meeting ANSI
attended, the number of Fora/Consortia in the ICT Sector can
be confusing to many.
There are many types of Fora/Consortia:
 Some are for R&D and other purposes
 From a standardization perspective, they can be generally
grouped into three types of activities, each doing some or all
of the activities:



Pre-Standardization: efforts to identify requirements to be
standardized or aggregated market requirements
Standards/Specification writers: similar to traditional SDOs
Technology/Standards Promotion
