Presentation:
Planning Fixed Broadband Wireless Access Networks based on WiMAX Technology –
A Case Study on Business Modeling and Planning Process
Speaker:
Mr. Roland Götz, Member of the Board of Directors, LS telcom AG
Abstract:
The IEEE 802.16 Air Interface Standard is a state-of-the-art specification for fixed broadband
wireless access systems employing a point-to-point (PMP) architecture.
WiMAX-compliant systems will fill the gap between Wireless LANs and wide area networks
and provide an alternative to conventional wire-line DSL in area where this technology is
readily available. In areas beyond DSL coverage, WiMAX technology is even more important
being able to provide a cost-effective broadband access solution.
In the structure of a case study, the presentation will determine the demands towards fixed
broadband wireless access networks in different environments, provide an overview on
business modeling and develop step-by-step the network planning process.
The network design will be demonstrated based on real scenarios using state-of-the-art
planning tools.
