Abstract
NGN requries end-to-end IP-based broadband capabilities. There is clearly a need for all
IP-based wireless broadband network that has a similar quality of service as wireline IP-based
broadband type services but with the added advantage of mobility. Bringing NGN broadband
access to individuals and businesses in under-served areas is very important.
The IEEE 802.16 standard, otherwise know as WiMAX enables true broadband speeds over
full IP-based wireless networks at a cost point to enable mass market adoption.
Countries are seeking cost effective, easy and fast to deploy, high performance IP-based next
generation broadband solutions. WiMAX as a next generation wireless broadband access
technology can deliver on all these attributes.
