When you search the internet or books you are not just
searching for Buddhism, for example, you are searching
for specific information about Buddhism.
How good do you think you are at finding, selecting
and using information. (be honest!)

Thinking about keywords
To focus your research take each one of your research
questions in turn and underline the keyword/s.
(remember keywords are words that will help to focus
your search)

Research Questions
Setting the scene
You are a journalist for the Religious Times. Your
assignment is to research a popular world religion for a
feature display/article in the journal.
From the ideas you have recorded on your mind map
select an aspect of the religion you are going to
research in depth for your article.
Write it here. (customs—birth, marriage etc.)
You call a meeting of your fellow journalists.
At the meeting you decide to thought shower what you know
about the religion and to think about aspects of the
religion that are important. (customs, beliefs ….etc…..)
Having made this decision you must now think of
research questions to focus your research.
( What happens after a baby is born? How are weddings
celebrated? ….. etc)
You decide to record your thoughts and ideas as a mind
map.
Write 5 research questions here.
