Computime Award for Completeness of Vision 2013
The Computime Award for Completeness of Vision was presented to Aaron Debattista, a fresh B.Sc IT graduate from the University of Malta, by Andrew Borg and John Wood, Joint Managing Directors, on
the 1st November 2013 at their Birkirkara head office. The award ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of ICT Dr Ernest Cachia.
Mr Debattista, who recently obtained a 1st Class degree, placed amongst the top 10 cohort of students. All the projects underwent an extensive two-step vetting process: a 20 minute presentation to a panel
of judges composed of Computime’s executive team was given by the students. The projects were then judged using a pre-defined set of criteria, some of the salient ones being that it had to capture the
market’s needs, the level of innovation, whether it can be applied across different geographies and demonstrate the student’s depth of knowledge. When asked for his reaction, Mr Debattista said that “it
was a humbling experience. It proved that my work was appreciated and had potential to be applied outside of the world of academia”.
The highly-anticipated event was part of the company’s FIRST Intership Program. Besides from recruiting the top new talent, FIRST has a number of initiatives designed to encourage students to excel
beyond the classroom. Computime’s Completeness of Vision Award will become an annual event to recognise students who excel. The Dean of the Faculty of ICT Dr Cachia expressed his wish that other
companies in Malta follow in Computime’s footsteps of recruiting and training graduates as part of an internship program. In his words, “companies like Computime can give something to the students which
the University of Malta simply cannot and this model can work with other companies throughout our island.”
