First 5 Educator, Part Time
We are currently seeking a part time, 30 hours a week Educator to work in our Bay Point First 5 Center, where we offer
free programs and classes to parents and families with children aged 0 up to five years old. Our programs focus on early
childhood development, parent support, healthy child-parent relationships, positive parenting practices, school readiness,
and more.
The Educator will deliver the First 5 curriculum to infants and pre-school children, and will work with and support the
children’s parents around parenting education issues. The Educator also provides child care for parent-only classes and
events, assists in promoting and raising community awareness of the First 5 program through a variety of outreach efforts,
and recruits Bay Point families to attend the agency’s free classes and enrichment activities. Subject to occasional
variation, this position will work every other Saturday, and may occasionally work evenings.
The Educator works as part of a team to assist in the planning and implementation of First 5 programs and trainings to
inform families about community resources that support early childhood social and emotional needs. They may also travel
to various community sites to represent Bay Point First 5 at meetings, health/educational fairs, and other community
events.
Required qualifications for this position:
 Minimum of five years’ experience in early childhood education or related field
 Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
 Experience working with at-risk families with young children and from diverse backgrounds
 Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with parents and children
 Able to work cooperatively as a team member
 Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases
 Ability to work evenings and Saturdays, and to travel to various community sites
 Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
 Understanding of the Agency’s mission and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients in all
 Circumstances
Preferred Qualifications:
 A.A. degree in early childhood education or related field
 Knowledge of resources available to families in the Contra Costa County area
 Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred

to hire and periodically thereafter)

Employment with STAND! is contingent upon clear fingerprint and criminal history record, and successful completion of U.S.

 For regular employees working 20 or more hours per week, the opportunity to participate in benefit plans including
