Hiring a New Lecturer
Here Is the Scenario
You see that there are more classes available and you have gone through your order of
assignment, you have asked your entire temporary faculty to adjust their schedule and try to
squeeze in another class/session; and to no avail, you had no luck!
If you need to hire a new Lecturer; here are the steps to complete that task! After you have
logged into “myfresnostate.edu”, in the list below find “Temporary Faculty”. The list below is the
order of sequence you will use to hire a new lecturer
CSU ID search
ƒ Look at Vita/resume of new hire to see if they were a previous student/employee, if yes; please
use that ID # instead of establishing a new one. Please do NOT create a duplicate ID #.
Person of Interest
ƒ Add a POI relationship if faculty has an existing ID or Add a Person of Interest if new to the
system (new ID # created). The ID # you establish will be the only ID # you will use.

Maintain Schedule of Classes
ƒ This is where you assign the instructor to the class meetings/schedule. You will need to know
the term, Course offering #, Catalog #, Subject Area, Course ID.

While in the meetings panel, find the correct day & time of class and the instructor(s) name
should populate (make sure that you have the correct record #). Attach him/her as instructor.
Instructor Term workload
ƒ Enter ID number, select Add New Value (2nd tab). This is where you will enter the class he/she
is teaching.

CSU Contract Data
ƒ Add New Value (2nd tab), Key in new ID # and Department # then click Add.

The contract must have the accurate semester dates, entitlements, contract type, position #,
term, rank/grade, and compensation rate.

The WTU’s entered can be brought forward by choosing the 2nd panel, TF Contract courses,
click on default courses (Bottom left corner) and all the classes he/she is assigned to will
appear. The total WTU’s will appear on the 1st panel. Correct as needed and save.

Part-time Faculty Contract
ƒ Select Search-Report and run info will appear. Put Empl ID# in upper half (to run entire dept.,
place your department # in box) and term year 2167 (for FA17) on lower half.
ƒ
Select SAVE-RUN-OK-REPORT MANAGER-REFRESH. Once details appear in the box, your
contract is ready to print.

As you are still in Part-time faculty contract, if you see the file listings with the .PDF, click that
and your contracts should appear.
