The University of Malta and the Faculty
of Engineering
The University of Malta is a 400-year old institution located on the island
of Malta, a member state of the European Union. The University is the
highest educational institution in Malta, and today hosts 11,000 students in
thirteen Faculties. These include over 1,000 foreign students, attracted by the
accessible location, the quality of the courses offered, and use of English as
the official academic language.
The Faculty of Engineering has a proven track record in teaching and
worldwide-recognised research, and has just won the 2011 National
Engineering Excellence Award for leadership in the profession. It offers a B.
Eng. (Hons.) degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, suited for Maltese
and International professional engineering requirements together with the
following Post Graduate Degrees.

Doctoral Degree Ph.D. for Research in Engineering
The Ph.D. in Engineering is a 3-4 year doctorate degree based on an innovative
research project implemented by the student, supported by the extensive expertise of
the departments in the Faculty and using the comprehensive range of equipment and
facilities available.
Masters in Integrated Product Development
The M.Sc. in Integrated Product Development is a 3-year part-time course intended
for engineering and science graduates who wish to improve their expertise and
qualifications to improve their professional standing or start up a technology-based
company. It is also relevant to industrial organisations including Small and Medium
Enterprises, consultancies, design offices and large manufacturing concerns. The
degree is built on two pillars: product/process engineering and business, blending these
topics in the consideration of product function definition, product design, materials,
manufacturing, product use and environmental impact, marketing, costing and business
management.
