Parking Meter Machines
Some of Cabrillo’s older cash parking meter machines will be replaced
with debit/credit card only machines. Some lots will have both
machines. In lots with only one type of machine, there will be signs
posted directing students to lots with the other type of machine.
Eventually, all parking meter machines will be debit/credit only.
The daily parking rate has been increased to $4.00 per day (up from
$2.00). Daily parking rates in Watsonville will remain $2.00 for the
time being.
There will be no ticketing the first week of the semester for students
without permits who park in student spaces.

BP/AP Child Abuse Reporter
The committee reviewed BP/AP 3518. This policy is a state law requirement.
Dennis will take this to the February Board for first review and asked for
suggested edits. There was much discussion regarding staff and faculty
training, responsibilities, and FERPA.
3.
Crisis Intervention Procedures and Guidelines
The committee reviewed the first draft. Again, there was much discussion
regarding training, procedures, responsibilities, and inclusion of a crisis
counselor at the Watsonville Center. Dennis asked for feedback on the
document. He will then take the second draft to the Crisis Intervention Team
meeting and is hoping to have the final document by mid semester.
4.
Barriers for Students
Dennis introduced this as a semester-long project. Looking at transfer rates
and budget cuts, along with limited admissions to UCs and CSUs, there is a
concern that traditional university students denied admission to universities
will displace at-risk students at Cabrillo. Dennis asked for everyone to
become aware of any barriers to at-risk students such as language, the
website, processes, etc. Begin discussing the issue at staff meetings and
especially encourage student input. This topic will be an ongoing subject at
each SSC meeting, focusing on one or two departments at a time, beginning
next month.

Spring 2011
Financial Aid awards will hit January 28. Higher One ATM money will
be available February 4; February 8 or 9 for direct deposit to a
checking account. (If students have not signed up for either, a check
will be mailed to them from Higher One after 21 days.)
Academic probation letters will be mailed early next week.
(This began a discussion of whom to call regarding student holds and
complaints. Students with complaints regarding an instructor should
be referred to talk with the instructor; if not resolved, then to the
Program Chair/Division Dean/VP Instruction, in that order – as noted
in the Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook. Holds on a student
account could be due to fees owed or a PERC hold.)
6.
Spring Reading
Lyn suggested articles or books pertaining to removing barriers. Research
documents and forward any ideas to Dennis. We’ll review Divided We Fail at
the next meeting.
7.
