INTRODUCTION
Introduction
This resource has been developed to support the delivery of Higher Chinese
languages. It covers the topics of education and work, including high school life,
the examination system, summer jobs and further education and employment.
The booklet contains four units. Each unit has five or six activities, designed to
develop students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Self assessment is included at the end of each unit so that students can monitor their
progress.

我喜欢音乐,从小就学小提琴,去年已经考过十级了。我们学校的课外活动多

校管弦乐队的成员,每周六上午排练一次,每周一上午举行升旗仪式的时候,
我们乐队要为全校师生演奏。其实,我也很喜欢唱歌,可是,因为合唱团和乐

李飞:
我喜欢写作,特别是写诗和散文。 在小学和初中的时候我就常常在作文比赛
中获奖。现在上了高中,学校有专门为文学爱好者设立的 ‘春雨’ 文学社。每周
六上午在校内活动两个小时。文学社的十几名成员来自高中不同的班级。这个
文学社已经成立十多年了,刚开始的时候,只是爱好写作的同学定期在一起交
流写作经验和参加各种写作比赛。 从 2000 年起,’春雨’ 文学社办起了学校校
报,五年以后,又办起了学校校内杂志。虽然我们这些成员个个工作都很多,
常常周末还要加班,但每次一看到新出来的报纸和杂志,心里特别高兴。
张明明:
我是学校篮球队的成员。当年初中进校的时候,我就是体育特长生。 我们除
了星期天休息,其余每天都要训练篮球。一般是周一到周五每天放学后一个半
小时和每周六上午半天。我们有两名教练,一位是学校特别聘请的职业篮球教
练,另一位是我们学校的一名体育老师。 我们队常常参加篮球比赛,有时在
本市和别的学校打比赛,有时去外地参加比赛。我们上个月刚刚参加了全省中
学生篮球联赛,获得了第二名。

一年一度的中考又开始了,学生进入考场后,总是能看见许多家长在考场外等
待自己的孩子考试结束。这些家长就是我们说的 ‘陪考一族’。对于这个现象,
人们到底是怎么看的呢?
家长王先生:
我是特地请假来陪考的。我觉得中考毕竟是我女儿人生中的一个重要时刻。如
果能考上好的高中,就等于半只脚踏入了大学的大门,所以我们很重视这次考
试。我的孩子平时成绩不错,但考试时什么情况都有可能发生,我们家长能做
的也就是给孩子吃好、休息好,还有就是来考场陪考。我陪女儿来考试,肯定
能减轻她的心理负担。而且,万一出现意外情况,我也可以及时帮她。
学生周新:
我是一所农村中学的学生。我们学校参加中考的初中毕业生都是由老师带着来
县城考试的。考试的前一天下午就赶到了县城,住在附近的小旅馆里。虽然我
是家里的独生子,但因为我的父母都是农民,每天都要下地劳动,实在没时间
管我的学习,更不可能放下地里的农活大老远地来这里陪我考试。我一定要努
力学习,将来考上大学,找到一份好工作。
学生王伟:
我的父母坚持要给我陪考, 真拿他们没办法。我不小了,可是在他们眼里,
我永远是个没长大的孩子。虽然我们不在自己的学校考试,但我家离考点学校
很近,而且每场考试都有我们学校的老师值班。一旦出现什么特殊情况,比如
生病啊,忘带准考证等,马上就可以找到老师帮忙,根本不需要家长紧张的。
但是父母一再坚持要来,我也就由着他们了。 这次考试,本来我不是很紧张
的,可他们这么做,我反而变得有些紧张了。

Activity 2: Reading comprehension
Before your summer job hunting, you see this article in your school’s
newspaper:
今年的暑假又要开始了,许多的大学生会利用这个机会去打工。据调查,现在
的大学生中几乎有三分之一的人在做兼职,而一些暂时没有打工的学生也表
示,只要有合适的工作,他们也愿意在暑假的时候去做。
打工原因
大学生假期打工原因有很多。 大多数人的看法是:打工一方面可以锻炼自
己,另一方面又可以挣些生活费。已经决定要在暑假打工的小明说:’我在东
北读书,而我的家在广西。往返路费很贵,要将近一千块钱。还不如呆在东北 ,
找一份临时工,赚点零花钱。’
工作信息
首先要留意学校的广告栏,那里会有很多工作机会。其次,不要忽视了身边的
亲戚和朋友, 他们也有许多工作信息。 然后,可以去当地的人才市场试试。
最后,在当地的一些报纸和网站上也有招工的信息。
工作种类
大学生打工,什么工作都做。在大学校园里的广告栏里,各种各样的小广告吸
引了许多学生的目光—到街上发宣传单、在餐馆做服务员,在超市卖东西等
等。尽管做什么的都有,但是大多数学生觉得, 理想的假期工作还是做家教。

验,所以比较容易上当受骗。尽管被骗的学生很多,可很少有人站出来维护自
己的权益。成都理工大学的杨教授建议说:’假期去打工,一定要先了解工
作;如果需要中介,就应该通过正规中介去找工作;一旦受骗,应该用法律维
护自己的权益。’
