The first time you log in you should read the
entire home page. Be sure that you scroll down
and read the Student Code of Conduct as that
links to our terms of use agreement and you can
be blocked from board use for violating the terms
of this agreement.
At the top of the home page there are special
announcements and job listings that are not listed
elsewhere on this site. These change, so check
here regularly for new information.
Job Listings
Off campus jobs are available for all students
registered in at least three units and for Cabrillo
graduates. To search for job listings, put your
curser over the Jobs tab at the top of the page and
click on Cabrillo Student Job Board.
You can modify the list to show more jobs per
page, and when looking at on campus jobs you
can sort by employer which will list jobs by
department. You can narrow your job search by
using the Job Function, Position Type, and
Search by Zip Code search options.
For a bit more info on a job including wage,
without going all the way into the job posting,
put your curser over the binoculars. To add a job
listing to your favorites, click on the star above the
binoculars. You can then go back and look at your
Favorites in the tab toward the top of the page.
To get all the details on the description and
requirements click on the Job Title. How the
employer wants you to apply for each individual
position is indicated here under how to apply, in
the upper middle section of the job listing. If you
load your resume in the system you will see an
apply button. Clicking on the button will allow
you to send your resume and also provides you
with a dialog box so you can write a note to the
employer to accompany your resume. Do not
click on the employers email address provided
unless you are using your home computer (you
can copy and paste it into your email if using a
public computer). Never send a resume without a
note that specifically tells them employer why you
meet their requirements for the job. Make sure
you meet the job requirements and can work the
required hours before you apply for the position.
On-Campus Jobs
You can post your resume
on-line
If you go to the documents tab you can post your
resume on line. About 85% of all job listings for
off campus employment require a resume. If you
do not have a resume, there is a link to our guide
on Resume Writing on the Home page. If you
write up a draft resume, you can bring it in to
the office and the staff will review it and help you
polish it. Once your resume is on-line you can add
it to any of several resume books that employers
can access if they are looking for student resumes.
Don’t assume they will go looking for you, always
apply for the positions you are interested in.
There are generally 400-500 jobs listed on our job
board. About 320 of these are on-campus jobs. To
be hired to work on campus you must be currently
registered in at least 6 units. About 20- 30 of
those listings are On-Campus Department
Funded jobs. Those departments are currently
seeking applicants and have money to hire you.
Departments start hiring for the following term
several months in advance. If you see a job on
campus that is not listed, contact that supervisor
directly to find out how and when you can apply
for future openings.
About 300 of the job listings are only available for
students who have received a Federal Work Study
(FWS) Award as part of their Financial Aid
package. These departments do not have money
to hire you unless you have already received this
award. Do not apply for jobs that require a FWS
award unless you have already received this award.
Please contact the Financial Aid Office for
information as to how to receive a FWS award.
