It’s been an amazing year at Smith College. I’m proud of our accomplishments. We welcomed students from more than 70 countries and 48 U.S. states. We announced 15 new Fulbright fellowship winners and our first Rhodes Scholar in 17 years. We built a living building classroom, with net-­‐zero environmental impact— one of only five such buildings in the world. We awarded more than $58 million in financial aid, with 64 percent of Smith students receiving support from the college. 38 percent of our students pursued majors in the sciences. And for the seventh year in a row, we received a record number of applications for admission. I can’t wait to meet the class of 2018 this fall. These successes would not have been possible without your support. To the faculty, who are the heart of our academic enterprise; to the staff, who do their jobs with such skill and dedication to the students, who bring this campus to life with their passion and their intellect; Thank you and have a wonderful summer.
