The Environmental Science and Policy Program (ES&P) offers financial support for internships with the
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) during the summer months at a number of
locations around the U.S. The program awards $3,800 for a ten-week period. Student interns are required to
submit an abstract of their summer work at the end of the summer to be included in the Women in Science: 2014
Summer Student Research at Smith College publication and to give a presentation about their summer research at
the ES&P Student Summer Research Symposium in fall semester 2014. Graduating seniors are not eligible.

The following materials must be submitted with this application:
1) Letter of interest: Please express your interest in the internship, what skills/qualities/knowledge you possess that make
you a good candidate for the internship, and how the internship relates to your academic and career plans.
2) Unofficial transcript: Please include an unofficial college transcript (Banner print-out), copies of grade reports, or
other documentation of your current academic standing.
3) Letter of recommendation: Please include a letter of recommendation from your faculty adviser or a faculty member
who knows you well. Letters may be sent via campus mail to Anne Wibiralske, Program Coordinator, Environmental
Science and Policy Program, 107 Bass Hall, or as an email attachment from the letter writer (not the applicant) to
awibiralske@smith.edu.
