To have or not to have!

Arab British Academy for Higher Education
To have or not to have!
To have is a bit simpler as in the past tenses it goes to had alone!
I had
You had
He, she, it
had
We had
You had
They had
Unfortunately we have not quite finished with to be which all the time is
extremely awkward.
To be: Final Instalment
There is another tense in English called Present Perfect: this is how it goes
with to be:
I have been
You have been
He, she, it has
been
We have been
You have been
They have been
What I am saying is that you have another strange word been which
obviously comes from to be...
This is a Past Participle, and is used for Past Tenses when more than one
word is used: these are called Compound Tenses...The Past Tense with
just one word is a Simple Tense.
Other Irregular Verbs
There is a large group of Irregular Verbs, not as irregular as to be but they
have to learnt one by one. Here are examples: first with the Present Tense:
to go
I go
You go
He, she, it goes
We go
You go
They go

Please note with he, she,
it, you need at an extra
es.
The Past Tense is a bit of a nightmare, I went, which does not change
whoever does the action, and the Present Perfect is I have gone... You just
have to learn these unfortunately.
The way we used to be taught verbs was in three sections that can be
learnt in groups, see the following:
sing sang have sung
begin began have begun
drink drank have drunk
sink sank have sunk
but: swing swung have swung
Please note the following:
(Very irregular)
bring brought have brought
fight fought have fought
seek sought have sought
think thought have thought
And:
write wrote have written
bite bit have bitten
find found have found
OTHER IRREGULAR VERBS
