Panhellenic/Interfraternity Council
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) voted to amend their constitution by adding a Director of Recruitment to the IFC Executive
Board, who will take office in Spring 2007.
Panhellenic Council sponsored two scholarships from Panhellenic Council funds for national sorority women on campus.
Panhellenic Council sponsored the Greek Student of the Month Recognition Program.
Academics
Fraternity men achieved a semesterly GPA 0.36 below the undergraduate men’s GPA (2.48 v. 2.84)
Sorority women achieved a semesterly GPA 0.33 below the undergraduate women’s GPA (2.77 v. 3.10)
The Interfraternity Council hosted their first Faculty Appreciation Dinner in December 2006 to honor faculty members that have
made an impact with members of the community.
Recruitment
35 undergraduate men joined 8 of the 13 fraternities in the Fall 2006 semester.
23 undergraduate women joined 7 of the 8 sororities in the Fall 2006 semester.
Panhellenic Fall Recruitment brought in 6 women who will begin their new member processes in the Spring 2007.
Leadership & Involvement
19 undergraduate students representing 12 chapters were initiated into the Upsilon Sigma chapter of the Order of Omega.
2 sorority members, Beth Molnar of Alpha Sigma Tau, and Vickie VanCoppenolle of Alpha Gamma Delta, were recognized as
the September and October Greek Students of the Month, respectively.
“Engineering Greek Success: Accelerating Our Future” occurred on October 6-7, 2006, stemming from the planning efforts of the
Coalition for Greek Advancement. The keynote speaker for the weekend was Mike McRee, nationally known fraternity/sorority
consultant, who presented “That’s Fratastic! - Debating Idiot Fraternity and Sorority Logic”.
Discipline
Triangle fraternity was placed on active suspension by their national headquarters in September 2006.
Two organizations were found to be in violation of university policy and were placed on organizational probation:
o Delta Sigma Phi - Effective until September 20, 2007
o Tau Kappa Epsilon - Effective until June 11, 2008
