Role:
Under general supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Deputy Director of Information Technology (DDITO)
accomplishes the IDT’s strategic goals and objectives by planning, organizing and implementing the assigned functions, and
projects required to operate and maintain optimal departmental activities and services; maintain confidentiality of all privileged
information.
The DDITO coordinates IT staff and task assignments, administers and maintains IT systems. Provide IT operations functions to
offices for the organization’s standard hardware, software and voice/data network solutions. Acts as the point of contact of
communication between ITD and operating, business and academic departments. Responsible for performing complex
professional work and takes lead duties in the area of operations, administration, coordination and support of all campus’
computer systems with computer hardware, software, and network systems. Installs voice, video and data cabling and fiber
optics and maintain college’s wireless network equipment. Determines hardware, software, and network system layered
complex specifications and support networks servers including operating systems and application software.

Monitor records of staff’s work activities, through the use of the Help Desk Request System. Assign
Troubleshoot issues and document solutions using Service Desk Plus.
Supervise day-to-day activities of the ITD. Monitor the performances of computer systems and network for
issues, such as disk capacity, servers malfunction, Anti-virus, Postmaster, Active Directory, Warrior Web,
access and system locks. Direct internal data backups and disaster recovery of database and mail servers.
In cooperation with DIT, direct local operations of staff. Assist in strategic and tactical planning, including
technology road map, project identification, budgeting, and disaster recovery/business continuity planning to
all campuses and staff in ITD. Assists in evaluating end user needs and recommends appropriate equipment
and software configurations.
Monitor Security compliances in accordance with ITD standards, and policies & procedures. Responsible for
procurement, installation, and life-cycle maintenance of IT hardware and software. Responsible for local IT
vendors, contract, and outsourcing management. Direct and manage software licensing and computer
equipment inventory, and replacement of computer equipment.
Supervise and perform appropriate duties associated with ITD and ITD project-based activities. Participate in
the identifications, development and communication of new technology standards and best practices as
appropriate. Responsible for monitoring data backup in ITD to ensure they are completed on a regular basis,
and recommend best practices.
Oversee and provide escalated technical support that requires on-site presence. Perform complex
software/hardware troubleshooting, patches, and re-installations in accordance with established servicelevel agreement to end users at all College sites and external providers/vendors. Provide
consulting/training/education services such as data management and staff training/orientation for standard
systems.
Perform research on various topics as assigned by Director of IT. Duties may require non-routine analysis,
research, and follow-through; other duties may be assigned that revolves around the continued operation of
IT.
Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; 2 to 5 years related experience.
Information Technology Intrafrastructure Library (ITIL) Service Management Certification.
 Experience in CISCO routers, servers, switches, firewall configurations and deployment.
 Experience and knowledge in Network and system Principles.
 Experience in cabling standard in BICIS, CISCO, FOA, etc.
 Experience in Training varying audiences.
 CISCO certification strongly preferred, CCNA or CCNP.
 Project management experience required.

Knowledge in Network IOS (Macs & Windows), DNS and topological analysis tools.
UTP and fiber Optics cabling skills or certification.
Network security best practices essentials.

Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; use hands to

to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
