INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
FC MOUNT: Flexible Cable Mono-Point, Damp Location Listed
RS MOUNT: Rigid Stem Mono-Point, Damp Location Listed
Prior to assembly, ensure 4" Round or Square (with a Round-to-Square Junction Box
Cover Plate) Junction Box is properly mounted to the ceiling structure. The center-tocenter mounting holes on the 4" Round Junction Box are 3-1/2"; the Round-to-Square
Junction Box Cover are 2-3/4". Both use 8-32 x 1/2" screws.
Loosen the (2) Philips screws that hold the mounting bar to the top round wiring
compartment. (Figure 1) Attach the mounting bar to the junction box or junction box
cover. Continue with fixture assembly instructions.
FIXTURE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
Shade/hood assembly comes with 132" of socket lead wiring in a silicone sleeve:
8" and 12" Single Lamp CFL Housings: (2) Blue, (2) Red, (1) Green
12" Two-Lamp CFL Housings: (2) Blue, (2) Red, (2) Yellow, (1) Green
8" and 12" CMH Housings: (1) Black, (1) White, (1) Green;
Black = Blue and White = Red
Bicycle Cable (CGF8 and CGF12):
The Bicycle Cable Connector has (1) 2mm recessed hex head screw for locking into
the nipple plus (2) 2mm recessed hex head screws for locking into the bicycle
cable. (Figure 2) (1) 2mm hex key wrench is supplied with each fixture.
Determine length of bicycle cable required.
If cutting is required, loosen bicycle cable from connector. Slide bicycle cable off
the wiring. Remove wire grommet. Cut bicycle cable with a hacksaw using a fine
tooth (32T) blade, BX Armor cable cutter or high speed metal cutting blade.
Remove any sharp edges. Re-insert internal wire grommet. Slide bicycle cable over
the wiring. NOTE: The bicycle cable will only accept the wires less the silicone
sleeve. Re-insert the bicycle cable connector. Tighten all hex head screws as
much as possible.
Flexible Cord (CGM8 and CGM12):
Determine the length of flexible cord required.
If cutting is required, loosen the coiled 18-3 cable. There should not be any
excess cable in the ballast compartment. Leave only 6-8" for wiring available.
Mark the cable where it needs to be cut. Carefully score the outer jacket around the
diameter of the cable about 6-8" below the total length. Then, score the outer jacket
lengthwise for that 6-8" section. Use proper rotary cable slitters such as Ideal
#45-128 or Eclipse #200-009. Remove the outer jacket. Trim off the individual wire
insulations by 1/2".
For CMH ballast wiring, mark the white wire with red colored tape and the black wire
with blue colored tape. Insert the cut wiring through the cable connector on the ballast
housing. Attach the black strain relief bracket to cord. (Figure 5) Tighten the (2) plastic
straight blade screws in order to hold the cord to the ballast housing safely. (Figure 4)
Make your wiring connections to the CMH ballast inside the ballast compartment.
Rigid Stem (CGF8 and CGF12):
Determine length of the stem with internal coupling required. A swivel stem
attachment (35° adjustment) is included for sloped ceiling applications (Figure 2).
Assemble stems onto the shade/hood assembly one at a time, carefully feeding
wiring through each section.
After all the stems are attached completely, remove the (4) brass screws from the
top of the ballast compartment and insert the wiring into the bottom of the compartment. (Figure 1) Screw the stem(s) into the nipple. Tighten all hex head screws
as much as possible.
Rigid Stem (CGM8 and CGM12):
Determine the length of the stem with external couplings required.
Loosen the (2) 3.0mm steel hex head screws from the cord grip connector. (Figure 3)
Remove the inner grommet. Slide the stems over the flexible cord. Screw into the top
cable connector. Tighten the (2) 3.0mm steel hex head screws. Add couplings to the
stem (if required).
Determine the length of flexible cord required.
Use the CGM (8, 12) Flexible Cord Instructions for the balance of the installation.
Loosen the (2) plastic straight blade screws from the ballast compartment cord grip
connector. (Figure 4) Remove the inner grommet. Insert the flexible cord through
the connector. Screw the stem to the ballast compartment cable connector. Tighten
the (2) plastic straight blade screws.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS:
Mono-Point Mount: Connect the socket leads (Black/Blue) to Blue, (White/Red) to
Red and the Green Ground Lead to the ballast leads. (Figure 5) Connect the primary
leads (Black-to-Black, White-to-White, and Green-to-Green) on the Ballast/Supply side.
Take the ballast plate and attach the (4) Brass screws through the slots into the
threaded brackets. Connect the primary leads from the junction box to the primary
leads of the fixture (Black-to-Black, White-to-White, and Green-to-Green). Attach the top
round wiring compartment to the junction box and tighten the (2) Philips/Straight
Blade screws.
The white socket lead with the Red identification marker gets connected to the red
ballast lead. The black socket lead with the blue identification marker gets
connected to the blue ballast lead. The green socket lead wiring gets connected to
the green ballast lead and green housing lead. Warning: When cutting the jacketed
socket lead wiring, avoid slitting the individual wire conductor’s insulation which
could cause arcing.
Per UL1598 and NEC 300.14, “at least 150mm (6in.) of free conductors and less
than 8 in., measure from the point in the box where it emerges from its raceway or
cable sheath shall be left at each outlet, junction and switch point for splices or the
connector of luminaires or devices”.

SHADE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
Loosen the (4) 3.0mm Hex Head Screws from the arms of the cast frame. (Figure 6)
Insert the correct wattage lamp(s) into the socket(s). Rest the decorative shade into
the bottom cast ring, then reattach the (4) Hex Head Screws into the cast arms.
Unpack the floating glass and attach to the bottom of the cast frame using the (4)
floating ring attachment mechanisms: screw in the double threaded bolt with the
center ribbed collar, then attach the glass. To lock the glass in place, screw on the
knurled nut.

non-conductive ladder.
• Product must be mounted in locations and at heights in a manner consistent with
its intended use, and in compliance with National Electrical Code and local building
codes. For indoor use only.
• Product must be grounded to avoid potential electric shock and any other potential
hazards.
• Do not exceed the nominal supply voltage or amperage ratings.
• Make sure all screws are properly tightened.
• Do not install any lamp holder closer than 6” from any curtain or similar combustible material.
• Use only fixtures and fittings intended for use with Con-Tech Decorative Stemlight
Pendant systems.
• Installing contrary to instructions may cause unsafe conditions.
