This next phase of the existing Viva service [vivaNext rapidways]
on Highway 7 West in Vaughan is funded through Metrolinx.
Metrolinx is an agency of the Province of Ontario working to
transform regional transit expansion in the Greater Toronto and
Hamilton Area [GTHA]. The vivaNext rapidways in York Region are
part of Metrolinx’s $1.4 billion commitment to improve transit in
York Region, just one component of a larger $9.5 billion investment
in the first five priority projects of Metrolinx’s Regional
Transportation Plan, The Big Move.

York Region’s vivaNext rapid transit plan is a key component of the
vision outlined by Ontario’s Places to Grow Act, which aims to
manage growth in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way.
This, combined with the City of Vaughan’s vision, recognizes
Highway 7 West and its growth centres as an important destination.

As well as connecting York Region with surrounding communities and
transit networks, vivaNext rapidways will help shape our growth,
setting the stage for urban renewal and pedestrian-friendly,
transit-oriented development.
