Institutional Learning Outcomes (attachment) Catalog Description – Place after the Philosophy statement. Include most of the initial introduction, and each outcome explanation except the possible assessment tools. Shorten some language in the description (e.g., This institutional outcome indicates if the objectives…). Syllabus inclusion? Process for going through the Senate. Suggested that the syllabus is not the best place to communicate ILOs. About CR on the webpage, and dialogue sessions at convocation about ILOs will lead to regular communication. The senate will discuss this further with Dave. Surveys and Time Line for Assessing ILOs and both reporting and using results ILO #1will be discussed in a dialogue session at convocation, #2 at convocation. The revised graduate exit survey will be implemented very soon so that some students will have provided feedback by the first dialogue session. 2. Dialogue Sessions - what's next? Change the way dialogue is presented on the assessment website. Place all dialogue to one page with clear labels. Leave program dialogue separate, but re-label as “Program Dialogue Assessment Reports” Next sessions should be “Financial Aid” session to discuss repeatability changes. Unsure if this is what the Art Department was wanting related to having money to buy supplies, but it seems to be a useful session anyway. Changes to unit caps, etc. and their impact on students ability to meet the outcomes. Consider inviting athletics, art, GS…. Professional Development sessions (like at Center for teaching excellence), to listen to the needs of faculty to improve outcome attainment. Can we do more with our professional development dollars on campus? Ahn Fielding and members of the Professional Development Committee should attend. Invite the humanities, CTE faculty? 3. Assessing the Assessment Process - more formalized feedback and subsequent improvements to the process We might want to wait until fall to evaluate new tools that not everyone has had time to use. 4. ACCJC standards and corresponding individuals and groups responsible for maintaining the standards at CR (attachment). The committee reviewed all of their currently assigned substandard and will do report outs depending on the timeline of inquiry. David Bazard reported that the Senate has approved a new multicultural understanding requirement for GE. The initiative that led to this proposal was a result of both discussions within the Multicultural and Diversity Committee and through GE assessment dialogue sessions. This is evidence that a modification/improvement to the college was developed through the use of assessment and dialogue. An implication of this proposal is that the Global/Cultural Context GE outcome will need to be re-evaluated. This may also be an opportunity to re-evaluate the current practice of having all GE outcomes map to all GE courses.
