Shadowersassignedtoinstructionalcoacheswillshadowusingpaperversionsoftheprotocol.
Youshouldbringwithyouthesheetwiththetask,activity,andlocationcodes.Youwilluseapaper
tasklogforinstructionalcoaches,whichissimilartothecomputerizedtasklogforprincipals,with
fourimportantdifferences.
First,youwillnotfilloutthe“tabs”inthesamewaywefillthemoutforprincipalshadowing.
Second,youwillrecordthename,gradelevel,andsubjectofanyteachertheinstructionalcoach
workswith(asbestyoucan)onthetasklog.
Third,whenacoachisworkingdirectlywithateacher,youwillcodethetopiccoveredinthe
discussiononthetasklogusingtheattachedlist.Youmayusemorethanone.
Fourth,youwillaugmenttheexistingtasklistwiththefollowingadditionalcodes,whichare
specifictoinstructionalcoaches.Ingeneral,youshoulduseoneofthecodesonthissheetbefore
youuseoneofthecodesfromtheprimarytasklist,sincethislistcontainsmorespecificityabout
thejoboftheinstructionalcoach.
Youmayencounterinstructionalcoachactivitiesthatarenotcapturedbyanyofthetaskcodes.If
so,usethecodethatappliesbest(including“other”),andtakegoodnotesaboutthesituationonthe
tasklogsheet.
