and an attached full-fledged hematology laboratory, on the 10th Floor , M. S.
Building) and Professor of Hematology, affiliated to University of Mumbai,
in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (K.E.M.) & Seth G. S. Medical
College.
King Eward VII Memorial Hospital
One of the oldest and most prestigious Medical Colleges in India, with 1820 bed
capacity & century old record of superlative patient care in all superspecialized
Departments. It has got the biggest Hematology Departments in the city of
Mumbai, with a monthly O.P.D. attendance of almost 350 to 500 patients
coming from all over India, and indoor admissions of 1000 to 1500 patients
yearly.
My specialized area of interest is Haemostasis & Haemoglobinopathies.
I am recognized guide for the Postgraduate Degree [M.D.] by papers in Medicine,
(since 1990) M.Sc. By Research (in Applied Biology, since 1994) & P.hD by
Research (in Applied Biology, since 1998) of the University of Mumbai.
I am also Examiner for Undergraduate course (M.B.B.S., since 1989) of the
University of Mumbai, Gujarat University, Baroda University, Mysore
University and Delhi University.
I am also Examiner for Postgraduate course (M.D. Internal Medicine, since
1994) of the University of Mumbai, Delhi & Gujarat University.
QUALIFICATIONS :
I graduated from the Grant Medical College & Sir Jamshethji Jejeebhoy (J.J.)
Group of Hospitals, Byculla of the University of Mumbai, as a Medical
graduate after four and half years of training, [divided into three academic years],
as M.B.B.S., in the year 1978.
There after I did internship for one year, at the Grant Medical College attached to
Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals & other hospitals affiliated to the same.
Granted the Diploma of "Bachelor in Medicine & Bachelor in Surgery
[M.B.,B.S]" in November 1979, by the University of Mumbai.
I entered the Medicine Residency Program of the Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals,
on the basis of marks obtained in the Medicine [67%] at the Graduation
examination , in the February 1980.
I was a registered post-graduate student of Dr. H.B. Chandalia, M.D. Hon.
Physician and Endocrinologist, Professor of Medicine, at the Grant Medical
College, University of Mumbai.
I worked as house-officer for a total of one year, which included, six months in
Neurology under Dr. N. H. Wadia and Dr. S. M. Katrak, at the Grant Medical
College, University of Mumbai.
Additionally, I also worked in Skin and Venereal Diseases, at the Mahatma
Gandhi Memorial Hospital, and in Chest and Tuberculosis, at the Sir J.J.
Group of Hospitals, the other allied branches of Medicine as part of the
Medical Residency Program.
Thereafter, I worked as Registrar in Medicine at the Grant Medical College from
1981 thro'1983.

Granted Doctorate of Medicine, from University of Mumbai in October
