Proposal 6: Weeks of Teaching paid and Revision Classes

Term Three revision classes – to be paid at the regular seminar rate per class
given to a maximum of two per seminar group taught
Proposal 7: Additional Considerations






No payment for attendance at SSLC meetings – undergraduates do not get
paid for representing their cohort, neither do PGT, so for consistency
neither should PGR
No payment for attendance at lectures given by module directors or other
staff – it is not a requirement that they attend – It has been agreed that if
attendance at the lecture is compulsory that payment should be
made at the seminar rate
No payment for writing student references – part-time teachers should
encourage students to approach full-time faculty for this as their students
will be better served by references from more senior staff – part-time
teachers can supply the reference writer with comments on the student’s
performance if they wish
No payment for helping students with job applications – part-time
teachers should encourage students to approach full-time faculty and the
DSEP for this
No payment for attendance at training events as they are part of their
professional development – It has been agreed that if attendance at the
training is compulsory that payment should be made at the seminar
rate
No payment to be made to part-time teacher representatives to attend
departmental meetings – as above with SSLC the UG and PGT
representatives are not paid – they are all elected and under Student
Union rules give of their time voluntarily
