Curriculum Committee Minutes
April 12, 2000
Present: Barry, Breitenbach, Kerrick, Livingston, Neshyba (chair), Stevens, Washburn
Neshyba called the meeting to order at 4:07. The minutes for the meeting of March 28 were
approved as posted. There were no announcements.
Report of the Biology Curriculum Review subcommittee
Stevens (subcommittee chair) reported that the Department of Biology’s curriculum-review
package was concise and straightforward. He and Barry praised the department’s program of
self-assessment, which involves a comprehensive survey administered to students and a daylong
retreat by Biology faculty to discuss the results of the survey. ACTION: Stevens M/S/P to
approve the curriculum review of the Biology Department and to approve as part of the
review a new course, Biology 477 (Marine Biology).
There being no further business, Stevens M/S/P to adjourn at 4:16 p.m.
