Welcome Message
I’m excited to serve as the chair once again at the Oklahoma Political Science
Association (OPSA) conference. This year our conference theme is E Pluribus Unum:
Diversity and Community in the Twenty-first Century, which seems a natural fit
with the large diversity of subfields among faculty, practioners and students at our
yearly conference. E Pluribus Unum is also a theme that you will notice with our key
note speakers, especially Drs. Gooden and Herrera and Pulitizer Prize finalists Ziva
Bransetter and Cary Aspinwall.
This is my 10th year at our OPSA conference and second time to chair and I am
happy to see such an energetic and dedicated board. We have made great strides
and will continue to do so into the future to promote rigorous research, insightful
teaching, and collegiality in political science. The OPSA is one of only 16 state-level
associations, so we are mindful our Association is one of the few places for Oklahoma
scholars, practioners, and students can share their ideas and network.
In this spirit, I want to welcome each of you to this year’s OPSA annual meeting at
the University of Central Oklahoma.
Sincerely,
John Wood, Ph.D.
OPSA Program chair & vice president
