CU Commemorates Constitution Day with
Panel Discussion
What do you give someone on Constitution Day? Cameron University’s Department of History and
Government is giving free education about the historical document. To commemorate the special day, the
department will host a panel discussion entitled “The Constitution and Federalism.” The event will be held
on September 20, 2006 at 3:30 pm in the Goodyear Room (Room 100), Sciences Complex.
“The discussion will focus on the significance of the Constitution in American politics,” said Melody
Huckaby, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Political Science. “The panel participants will also speak on the
federal and state government relationship in areas such as education, social welfare, immigration, and
homeland security.”
Huckaby will moderate the discussion. Panel participants will include former Speaker of the Oklahoma
House of Representatives Loyd Benson, former state Representative and Chairman of the Oklahoma
Corporation Commission Ed Apple, and United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of
Oklahoma Shon Erwin.
A reception for the speakers follows the panel discussion.
