Looking for something for the kids to do?
Try a summer camp at Cameron University
Youngsters of all ages have plenty of opportunities to expand their knowledge, explore the arts and
exercise their athletic skills at several camps and workshops to be presented this summer at Cameron
University.
The CU Department of Art will sponsor three arts camps for students ages 4-13. “Start with the Arts” is a
three-week workshop for children ages 4-6 that focuses on fostering creativity and basic art skills. The
camp runs June 7-10, 14-17 and 21-24.
The “Fine Arts Summer Institute” is designed for elementary students and focuses on drawing
fundamentals, computer graphics and portfolio development. The institute has two sessions: June 11, 18,
and 25, and July 2, 9 and 16.
“Creative Expressions” is a three-week workshop for ages 6-13 that focuses on developing creative
expression through the visual arts. This program runs July 6-8, 12-15 and 19-22. For more information on

A Criminal Justice Summer Academy runs June 7-11 and is presented jointly by Cameron University and
Great Plains Technology Center. This workshop gives high school juniors and seniors from across
Comanche County and the Big Pasture Schools a chance to explore careers in law enforcement, forensic

science, narcotics and terrorism investigation. The academy is also open to CU freshmen and sophomores

The popular “Kids Investigating the Discovery of Science” workshop returns to Cameron June 21-25. This
workshop will give elementary students opportunities to explore science through a variety of hands-on
experiments and activities. For more information call 580/581-2886.
Young and aspiring hoops stars can choose from three sessions of the Aggie Co-Ed Basketball Camp this
summer. Session I, for students in kindergarten through third grade, runs July 6-8. Session II, for students
in grades 4-9, runs July 19-22. Session III, for students in grades 6-12, runs July 19-22. For more

Junior high and high school students from across the country will be on campus next month for the 30th
annual Cameron University Speech-Debate-Broadcast Camp, the longest running camp of its kind in the
state. Two sessions are planned: July 11-16 and July 18-23. For more information, call 580/581-2249.
A registration fee, which varies according to the type of program, is required for participants in each camp
to cover the cost of materials. Students attending the criminal justice academy for college credit must pay
tuition.
