Textbook: Advanced Precalculus: Trigonometry, Conics, and Complex Numbers , by
Kevin Wortman. This book is, or soon will be, available for purchase at the campus store.
Credit hours: 3 credit hours.
Course goals: To improve mathematical reasoning, and to prepare for future math learning in calculus and linear algebra. Topics to be covered include linear algebra of the plane, trigonometry, conics, and the complex numbers.
Calculators won’t be allowed during the course, nor will they be needed.
Homework: Homework is to be completed on WeBWorK. Due dates will be late Monday at night (at 4am Tuesday). Late homework is not allowed. It is expected that you receive a perfect score on homeworks throughout the semester.
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given every Tuesday lecture.
Midterms: There will be 2 midterms. Midterms will take approximately one hour (not an entire class period), and will focus on material presented in class since the previous midterm. They will take place on Thursday, October 8, and on Thursday, November 12.

Exam: The final exam for this class is comprehensive and it will occur on Tuesday, Dec.
15, 2015 8:00 - 10:00 am. I will let you know the location as soon as possible.
Attendance: You are expected to attend every lecture.
Grading: The numerical grades will be calculated as follows:
Homework: 15%
Quizzes: 15%
Midterm 1: 20%
Midterm 2: 20%
Final: 30%

There will be no extra credit, partial credit, rounding up, late homework, or makeup exams.
