Nora Dougherty. In addition to majoring in International Studies, Nora has a
minor in Political Science, a minor in Spanish Language, and a minor in Human
Rights and Genocide Studies. She is an Honors Program student. He Honor
Program research project focused on European migration policies. She spent
a semester on study abroad in Spain. She has been involved in the Community
Service Center, where she has organized countless campus events, including
Invisible Children, which advocates for victims of armed conflict in Uganda,
and has brought survivors of that violence to campus. She has served as a "Global
Ambassador" for the International Education office, and has also served as the
study in Spain student ambassador--a position for which she won recognition from
the Spanish Ambassador in 2011. Her research paper--on the “Reproductive Rights
in Chile--won her the Pi Sigma Alpha essay award.
Future Goals: Nora has been awarded a very competitive and prestigious
Fulbright Teaching Assistantship for Spain for the 2012-13 academic year and
plans to pursue graduate studies in international affairs in fall 2013.
