1. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the Oct. 28th, 2011 and November 18th, 2011 meetings
were approved with corrections.
2. Clarify Differences between District Strategic Plan (DSP) Goals 1 and 2: At the last
District Strategic Planning Committee meeting (held jointly with DPC on 3/23/12) the work
groups assigned to goals 1 and 2 reported that having the word “success” in both goal
statements created confusion in the understanding the focus of these goals and in the
development of related objectives and outcome measures. Ryan suggested that, following the
methodology suggested by Achieving the Dream, this confusion could be resolved by reference
to timeframes in the student educational pipeline. In this formulation, the focus of goal 1 was
student success up to the end of the student’s first year and the focus of goal 2 was student
success beyond the first year. There was extensive discussion and dialogue about this proposal
(recorded on the meeting room’s whiteboard). Suggested revisions also involved moving
objectives between goals 1 and 2 and adding additional objectives and measures to these
goals. In addition, DSP goals 3 and 4 were reviewed to ensure that their objectives were
consistent, both internally and with the revisions of goals 1 and 2. An updated DSP summary
(goals, objectives, and measures) will be compiled, reviewed, and finalized at the next DPC.
