Course description change as it would appear in the catalogue (Course description change: 50 words or less; include prefix, number, title,
credit hours, crosslisting, pre/corequisites, etc.).
Justification for request or degree change:
This is a change in the name of the major. The curriculum has been modified greatly in recent years to more accurately reflect societal and
economic trends in the field. Therefore, the major no longer instructs students on "park management" and the name, as it currently exists, is not
only misleading, but not a true representation of the current curriculum. Moreover, this name change is consistent with other Council on
Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredited programs across the United States. The program
here at UNCW has been accredited by COAPART for 25 years.
