Description of proposed program change:
The Criminal Justice major in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice is undergoing
an extensive revision, the first major revamping in 20 years. The full curriculum proposal is in
review with the CAS Curriculum Committee. Several proposed changes come under the
jurisdiction of the UCC:
1) Change prefix of all classes from CRJ (Criminal Justice) to CRM (Criminology);
2) Change in number of hours required for the major from 42 to 39 credit hours;
3) Drop CRJ 110 [now CRM 110] as Oral Competency course;
4) Designate CRM 495 (formerly CRJ 495) as new Oral Competency course.
