Recommended Action:
Request the establishment of a quasi-endowment fund named the Student
Government Association Scholarship. The scholarship is being created by the
Student Government Association with donor funds and unused student
organization fundraising dollars.
Summary and Applicable Policy:
As of January 5, 2016 the spendable account of the Student Government Association Scholarship
totals $845.77. This money will be used to continue annual awards. $28,173 will be moved from
fund 372361 to create the new endowment. Money from fund 372361 is comprised of unused
student organization fundraising dollars, and there is an SGA agreement that states any unused
monies from that fund will be used to provide scholarships. The Campus Activities and
Involvement Center shall serve as award authority and select the recipient using any committee
structure or process deemed appropriate by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.
