Proposed Catalogue Description: Methods of research in the fields of recreation. Identification of
research problems, sampling methods, data analysis, and interpretation, and planning of
evaluation studies. Includes computer applications in recreation services and use of computers to
conduct and present research and evaluation.
Description of assignment(s) that involve basic computer skills including knowledge of campus

Students will conduct a literature review, and collect and evaluate both qualitative and
. quantitative data in an applied recreation setting. The assignment requires the student to master
the tools of online searching. Students will demonstrate competency finding resources using
Randall Library's computerized tools along with the use of Interlibrary Loan. They will be

the reference librarian who specializes in the area.
In addition, students will complete courses on the UNCW Skill Port training software to learn
