How to Qualify

Complete Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) – available
January 1
Determines eligibility for federal,
state and institutional financial aid

Submit any required documentation
in a timely manner.
Verification Documents include: Tax
Return Transcripts (tax returns are not
acceptable), W-2s (if student did not
file, but earned income), Verification
Worksheets, Verification of
Divorce/Separation, Child support
received/paid, SNAP Benefits, Untaxed
income.

How to Maintain Financial Aid Eligibility
•
Federal regulations require UNCW to establish
Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress in
the following areas:
• Cumulative GPA (qualitative)
• Hours Earned (quantitative)
• Maximum hours to degree/certificate
completion
•
Maintain a 2.0 GPA
•
Complete at least 67% of all attempted hours.
•
Do not exceed maximum timeframe to
complete all degree or program requirements –
186 for undergraduate students
