You’re Getting Sleepy…
One of the newest and most energetic entertainers on
the college circuit Chris Jones (front) uses his special
techniques to hypnotize a row of students during an
event hosted by Student Life and Alter Ego
Productions. The free program was part of a week-long
series of “Spring It On” events for students to ready
themselves for spring break next week.
John Tovar Earns
Prestigious Jeff Award
COD Theater instructor
John Tovar earned a 2013
Jeff Award for his fight
choreography in A Red
Orchid Theatre's "The
Opponent." Tovar noted that
despite his success as a fight
choreographer, teaching has
provided him with the most
satisfaction. “I found no
greater joy than when a
student has that 'aha' moment when they finally
understand a particular lesson and it changes them,” he
said. “You can't get that from performing onstage. No
matter how much an audience enjoys a performance,
nothing feels better than inspiring a student.” Read More

Director Diana Martinez Prepares MAC for the Future
New Director Diana Martinez is energized about the future
of the renovated McAninch Arts Center. Martinez is
currently booking the 2014-2015 season, the first full
season back in the MAC since it reopened this year after a
16-month floor to ceiling renovation. Improvements to the
Belushi Performance Hall, Playhouse Theater and Studio
Theater as well as the addition of the outdoor Patio Stage
are providing new opportunities, and Martinez is excited
about the possibilities. “By keeping in place the
programming that our community clearly enjoys, we can
build on it with shows that appeal to a broader audience,
such as music or comedy shows that are more accessible
to students,” Martinez said. “I also plan to bring in some big
headliners every year to attract new audiences to the MAC
and create additional excitement around our season
lineups.” Read More
