prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate
Transfer Scholarship, the largest private scholarship for twoyear and community college transfer students. The Lombard
resident is one of 85 students nationwide to receive the
award and is the seventh COD recipient in the College’s

Kudos to… Art
Professor David
Ouellette and Art
program faculty who
recently hosted the
annual “Walk This
Way” high school art
exhibit. More than 100
students, family,
friends, teachers and
community members
attended the event, which provided an opportunity for high
school students in District 502 to display their work in a
wide range of styles and media, including ceramics,
drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and mixed
media. “COD created this event to celebrate and support
up-and-coming artists,” said Ouellette, who noted that the
students received feedback from COD professors and
learned about careers in art and what the College has to
offer in terms of Art programming. Click here for photos.

More Kudos to…Athletic Director Paul Zakowski and
Chaparral Fitness Center Manager Matt Cousins who
organized an Open House on April 26 that resulted in
visits by 300-plus community members and immediate
registration by approximately 25 individuals. Tours were
given throughout the day of the new 11,000 square-foot
Fitness Center, which includes an eight-lane, 25-yard lap
pool, 75 pieces of cardio equipment and 15 52-inch HD
televisions and first-class locker rooms. Members also
have access to drop-in classes such as spinning, yoga,
TRX, boot camp and boxing.
Even More Kudos to…Admission Representative Cesar
Flores who received this thank you from Paul
Schweikert, social worker at Jefferson Middle School in
Villa Park: “Thank you so much for presenting to our two
Jefferson Heritage Spanish classes and select parents last
Thursday, April 17. The “Value of College” presentation
was well prepared and timely for our students. They were
engaged by the PowerPoint and your speech. I especially
enjoyed the personal examples from your life. College of
DuPage is a great option for many of our students! I
enjoyed hearing the students shout out their career goals
and possible majors. We hope that this was the first of
many presentations by you to our students and parents.”
Reminder: Summer Premium Parking Passes are on sale
