Jan. J 11, 112013 2013 Be a Hero: Meet Super Chap College of DuPage is asking each of us to do our part to keep our environment clean and, where necessary, alert Physical Facilities if something needs to be fixed. As a fun reminder, the College is introducing “Super Chap,” the ever-vigilant Chaparral dedicated full time to the oversight of the cleanliness and safety of our campus. Super Chap is here to remind us that we can all be heroes and make a difference. We are currently issuing free water bottles to employees with the slogan: Be a Hero, Call 4440. This extension, of course, is the number to call if you see any type of damage such as broken furniture, something spilled, safety hazards, etc., please take a minute to dial 4440. Like Super Chap, be a hero! Chris Kriz Earns Jeff Award Former COD student Christopher Kriz has earned two 2012 Jeff Awards for his work in theater productions in Chicago. Kriz won the awards in the sound design category for his work in “Opus,” presented at Redtwist Theatre, and “The Turn of the Screw,” presented at First Folio Theatre. Established in 1968, the Jeff Awards committee evaluates over 250 productions in the Chicago area in dozens of categories. Two awards ceremonies are held annually: the Equity Jeff Awards, which recognizes productions operating under union contracts, and the Non-equity Jeff Awards, which recognizes productions operating without union contracts. Kriz attributes the successful combination of his musical and theatrical interests to his experiences as a student at College of DuPage. “The exposure at COD to so many musical and theatrical experiences was an education that simply could not be found elsewhere,” he said. The innovative 3+1 program allows students to complete their bachelor’s degree at College of DuPage at a significantly reduced tuition rate. COD courses are taught for the first three years, with partner university faculty teaching the fourth year at COD’s campus. Students receive their associate’s degree from COD and their bachelor’s degree from the partnering university. In addition, students are able to obtain an affordable four-year degree for less than $34,000 without sacrificing academic quality. “Our 3+1 program is a new way of partnering with prestigious area colleges and universities to offer our students a chance to earn their bachelor’s degrees without leaving campus and facing a lifetime of debt,” said COD President Dr. Robert L. Breuder. Read More MLK Breakfast Jan. 21 College of DuPage, in partnership with Benedictine University and Nicor Gas Company, will present the 18th annual Rev.
