Read More ILPEx Site Visit Oct. 15 Eight examiners from Illinois Performance Excellence will visit College of DuPage starting Monday, Oct. 15, to evaluate systems and processes against the nationally developed Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence. The four- to five-day site visit is part of the innovative AQIP-Baldrige Option for reaffirmation of our Higher Learning Commission regional accreditation. COD is one of only seven “cutting edge” institutions initially approved by the HLC to pilot the AQIPBaldrige Option for reaffirmation, which has been deemed a more rigorous process than the standard AQIP approach. Based on the College’s accreditation cycle, in 2013 we would have been required to update our AQIP Systems Portfolio, which was initially submitted to the HLC in 2004 and updated in 2008. Under the AQIP-Baldrige Option, in late May the College instead submitted a Baldrige-based ILPEx application to Illinois Performance Excellence. The site visit team will speak with numerous staff members in order to clarify and verify the information in COD’s application. Therefore, all COD employees are encouraged to review the application, available for viewing on the employee portal under “Official Communications.” Additional information about the AQIPBaldrige Option is also available on the Higher Learning Commission website. Kudos to…Photography faculty Mary Dew, Jeff Curto, Glenn Hanson, Lily Mayfield and Terry Vitacco who received this warm note of thanks from student Joanne Barsanti: “After taking Mary Dew’s Photo Exhibition class in Fire Dance summer of 2011, I knew there was much work to be done to get where I wanted to be. The class gave me the confidence to pursue and participate in exhibition opportunities in 2011-2012, and it gave me the inspiration in my classes of fall 2011 and spring 2012 to build a consistent body of work as part of my class exercises. As a result, I received the invitation for a one-month solo exhibit at the Calmer House Gallery in Joliet…The website-building and book-creating skills that I learned in Jeff Curto’s class in Advanced Digital Imaging last fall and the opportunity to experiment with a variety of techniques and subject matter in Lily Mayfield’s Color 1 class this spring played a significant role in putting together this body of work. I would like to thank all of the instructors for their dedication to the great program that the Photography Department has put together, and for their individual support and feedback both inside and outside of class.” Click here to view more of Barsanti’s work.
