Birthday Policy
Birthdays are very exciting occasions for first graders and many children
like to celebrate with parties. If your child is planning to pass out
invitations at school to his/her birthday party, please make sure to
include an invitation for all of the girls, all of the boys, or everyone in
the class. We need to be sensitive to students’ feelings and don’t want
any kids to feel left out or excluded. Otherwise, please handle invitations
outside of school.
We will celebrate your child’s birthday here at school by making them a
class birthday book to take home and enjoy. We are asking that students
do not bring in any birthday treats. Please do not send cupcakes, drinks,
snacks, or any treat bags to school with your child. They will not be
permitted to pass them out. There are too many children at Wyandot
with severe food allergies. In order to make this a safe environment for
all students, we ask for your support with this policy.
If you would like to do something special to celebrate your child’s
birthday, we are asking that you donate a favorite book to the classroom
library or donate a game for the kids to enjoy during indoor recess. Ask
your child’s classroom teacher for suggestions!
Thank you,
The First Grade Team
