In May 2015, the primary focus of construction activities was the site grading, Module A interiors and the start of the tactical equipment in the range. Other exterior activities, such as pouring the heavy duty pavement and installing the screen wall support tubes, were ongoing in May. The electrical, plumbing and HVAC trade contractors continued their overhead work in Module A. Ongoing at that time, the acoustical ceilings contractor installed his grid and began dropping ceiling tile borders. Site grading of the west and north side the building started at the end of May.
Additionally, MEPFP work finished in the basement as the construction team initiated equipment start-up at the end of May. In the range, the firing range tactical equipment trade contractor began to work on their bullet trap, steel joint cover plates and angled baffles. The framing contractor installed the north plenum wall and Control Room ballistic window frames. The metal panel and glazing trade contractors installed their respective work at the east entryway with the east sidewalk & dock area poured at the end of April/early May. Most trade contractors maintained or increased their crew sizes throughout May so that they could continue working throughout the entire building. Further detail of the work that occurred in May is laid out in the schedule summary within this monthly report.

Some key construction activities that occurred in May:

•
Storefront in Conference Room was installed 5/15/15
•
Stair 1 was installed by 5/18/15
•
Ballistic panel ceiling system began on 5/18/15 and is ongoing
•
Equipment start-up began on 5/20/15 and is ongoing
•
Curtainwall at Vestibule 1E was completed by 5/22/15
•
Nicor Gas Service into the building completed by 5/26/15
•
Prime and first coat painting is ongoing
•
Basement MEPFP work ongoing
