Expectations

College Application Process. Students are expected to:
ò  Apply on-line using the Common Application or through the
institution’s website if they are not a Common Application
school
ò  Update Active Applications
ò  Request Transcripts through Naviance
ò  Complete Surveys in Naviance
ò  Request Letters of Recommendation through Naviance
ò  Request Transcript for NCAA through Naviance

In Naviance’s Family Connections, update the Resume

Double check deadlines (application and scholarship)
ò
Send ACT (including at least one writing score) and SAT
scores to prospective colleges
ò
Talk with teachers/counselor about letters of
recommendation
ò
Work on your essay or personal statement
ò
Start college applications

ò  Students must contact the testing agency to request
scores to be sent to each college.
ò  Dublin City Schools does not report SAT or ACT scores
on the transcript or release them to the institutions.
ò  * It is highly recommended for you to submit at least 1 writing

Teacher Recommendations
ò  Check with the institution to see if a letter is required
ò  Ask your teachers, in person, at least 3 weeks in
advance and give them a copy of the Counselor/

ò  Request Teacher Recommendations electronically in
Naviance (this allows the teacher to link the letter to

you have the option of using the Common Application

access their website directly to apply

If the institution you are applying to is not listed in Naviance,
request a transcript package through the guidance office.
•
Monitor the status of your transcript package through the
colleges I am applying to menu – the date it was postmarked/
transmission date (generally 2-4 weeks for colleges to process
the transcript).
•
Please allow for 10 school days for the guidance department to
submit materials after an official transcript request has been
submitted. Please allow for 15 school days if you have also
requested a letter of recommendation.
