What’s new in Room 216?
MRS. O’CONNOR’S 3RD GRADE CLASS
z Ask A 3rd Grader In Our Class About... z
We continued to think about place value this week
in math. We practiced writing numbers in different
ways. Can you show someone at home how to draw a
model of the number: thirty five thousand, two
hundred and seventeen? How would you write that
number in standard form and expanded form? Find
“Mr. R’s Place Value” songs and “The Place Value
Story” on You Tube - show your best dance moves to
the songs!
We have been practicing spelling and recognizing
the “No Excuse” words. “No Excuse Words” are a list
of 30 words that all 3rd graders should know how to
read and spell. Tell someone about our: word
scavenger hunt, a game called “Dress the Person” and
show them how to play spelling tic-tac-toe!
nnn
We began a book called The Quirks: Welcome to
Normal. We made a character chart to help us
remember/comprehend details about the characters
in the book. Can you remember the magic powers/
“quirk” of Molly, Penelope, Grandpa, Finn and
Bree? Draw a picture of each character!
